Ph.D. Katarzyna Prorok
Katarzyna Prorok received her MSc in Chemistry from the University of Wrocław in 2011 and PhD in Chemistry from the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research Polish Academy of Sciences in 2016. Between 2011 and 2019 worked as Research Assistant and Research Engineer at the Wroclaw Research Centre EIT+/Łukasiewicz Research Network - PORT Polish Center for Technology Development. Since 2019, she holds position of associate research scientist at the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research and is a member of Biomedical Physicochemistry Division. She was principal investigator in the Preludium (National Science Center, NSC) research project. She was awarded the ETIUDA doctoral scholarship (National Science Center), START 2018 scholarship of the Foundation for Polish Science and the Award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for young scientists 2020-2023. Currently, she is leading her own research project (NSC Sonata) titled “The energy transfer between surface antenna and inorganic nanocrystals doped with lanthanide ions”.
Katarzyna’s interest and work is related to the synthesis and versatile (structural, morphological, spectroscopic) characterization of colloidal lanthanide-doped luminescent nanoparticles. Her current interdisciplinary research focuses on optical spectroscopy, novel designs of lanthanide-doped nanoparticles as well as optimization of spectral properties of the obtained materials.
